Botox

Still considered the cream of the crop in terms of anti-aging treatments Botox continues to be one of the most sought after cosmetic procedures today.

The botulinum toxin Type A-based solution is injected into facial muscles that lead to wrinkles, relaxing the muscles so that fine lines and wrinkles are effectively smoothed away. The injections have been shown to reduce some types of facial wrinkles by up to 80%. Botox is considered a non-invasive procedure that produces stellar results with little risk or downtime involved.

Who is a Candidate?

Candidates for Botox include individuals who want to diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the face. Because the solution works directly on facial muscles that lead to wrinkling, the procedure is limited to treating wrinkles caused directly by facial movement. This includes:

  • Crow’s feet around the eyes
  • Horizontal lines on the forehead
  • Vertical creases between the eyebrows known as frown lines
What is the Procedure Like?

Botox is administered right in our MedSpa and most treatments take less than 30 minutes to complete. The location of the injection site is the key factor to success, and our experienced Botox providers know exactly how to determine where injections should be placed. Injections are done through tiny needles, inserted just below the surface of the skin. Patients might experience minimal discomfort during the procedure, which is not usually bad enough to require medication. However, if you are concerned about discomfort during the procedure, talk to our MedSpa staff about your options.

How About Recovery?

There is no downtime required after Botox treatments and most patients return to normal activities right away. Patients may be advised to refrain from strenuous activities for a few days after the procedure. Some patients may experience mild side effects after a Botox treatment, including nausea, headache and a drooping eyelid. Most side effects are temporary and resolve themselves within a few hours or days.

Are there Risks?

Botox is considered a safe procedure and risks are rare. Associated risks might include:

  • Problems speaking or eating if treatment was done near the mouth area
  • Problems breathing or swallowing if the medication travels to the muscles associated with these activities
  • Possible spread of the toxin to other areas of the body
Is the Procedure Considered Permanent?

Botox is not considered a permanent anti-aging treatment and subsequent sessions will be required to maintain desired results. Most clients find that two or three Botox sessions each year will effectively minimize facial wrinkling for a younger appearance.

There are few anti-aging treatments more tried and true than Botox. If you would like to say goodbye to unwanted facial wrinkles that are aging you before your time, contact our MedSpa office to find out if Botox is the right solution for you.
