Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are an anti-aging treatment that plumps skin from the inside out for a smoother, wrinkle-free appearance. This procedure has evolved considerably over the years, with newer, more effective formulas getting introduced to the marketplace all the time.

Dermal fillers are administered by injection directly into the wrinkle, providing a hefty dose of collagen, hyaluronic acid or another substance that fills in the wrinkle to diminish its appearance. This procedure is considered safe, non-invasive and requires no downtime afterward.

Who is a Candidate?

Dermal fillers can be used on nearly every skin tone and type, allowing anyone with unwanted facial wrinkles to achieve stellar results. Common treatment areas include:

  • Eye area (crow’s feet)
  • Brow
  • Bridge of nose
  • Mouth
  • Cheeks

In addition to reducing the appearance of lines, the fillers can also be used to enhance features like the lips. New formulas are hypo-allergenic, unlike previous bovine-based combinations that produced allergic reactions in some clients. Our staff at MedSpa can help you determine if a dermal filler is the best option for you.

What is the Procedure Like?

Dermal fillers are administered right in our MedSpa office and take just a few minutes to complete. The total time involved will vary, based on how many wrinkles you want to have treated in a single session. Most patients do not require any sort of topical anesthetic prior to treatment, but if you are concerned about discomfort, you can talk to our MedSpa staff. The injections are made via a small needle directly into the target wrinkles.

How About Recovery?

There is virtually no recovery time with dermal fillers. Most clients return to regular activities immediately. Any mild pain or swelling can easily be managed with over the counter pain medications for the first few hours after the procedure.

Are there Risks?

There are few, if any, risks associated with dermal fillers. The introduction of new formulas has further reduced the risk, since allergic reactions to the solutions are no longer a problem. The greatest risk with the procedure is dissatisfaction with the results. However, clients that don’t like their results find that the temporary nature means the effects of the treatment will diminish in time. At MedSpa, we counsel patients undergoing dermal filler treatments to ensure they have realistic expectations about the outcome for the procedure.

Is the Procedure Considered Permanent?

Dermal fillers are not considered a permanent solution to wrinkles and treatments will need to be repeated to maintain desired results. The frequency of treatments will vary base on the dermal filler that is used. The MedSpa staff can help you find the formula that will provide the long-lasting results you are hoping for.

Dermal fillers have been used for some time to effectively turn back the clock on the skin. If you are tired of looking at those fine lines and wrinkles in the mirror, talk to a member of our MedSpa staff to find out if a dermal filler is the best solution for you.
